1. No Data Collection or Transmission
The Extension is designed to process all data locally on your device. Specifically:
- Audio Processing: The Extension captures audio from the active browser tab you select. This audio is processed entirely within the Extension's offscreen document using ONNX Runtime WebAssembly.
- Local Transcription: The transcription of your call happens locally. No audio recordings, voice data, or transcripts are ever uploaded to our servers, stored in the cloud, or shared with third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI).
- No Personal Information: The Extension does not collect your name, email address, or any other personally identifiable information. It does not require you to create an account or sign in to function.
2. Use of Permissions
The Extension requests the following permissions to provide its core functionality:
tabCapture: Used to capture audio from the specific tab where your call is taking place.offscreen: Used to create a background environment for running the local transcription model.sidePanel: Used to display the VoiceVocab interface alongside your browser window.tabs: Used to identify the active tab and ensure audio capture is correctly targeted.storage: Used to store transient session state (e.g., session start time) locally inchrome.storage.session. This data is cleared when the session ends.host permissions (<all_urls>): Required to allow you to use VoiceVocab on any meeting platform (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
3. Third-Party Services
The Extension does not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising services. It operates independently of the VoiceVocab web application's data collection practices.
